Why Isn't My Clinic on Google Maps? (NI Physio & Chiro Guide)
By Rank NI · 29 May 2026 Updated 4 June 2026
Short answer: your clinic probably isn’t on Google Maps because your Google Business Profile isn’t claimed, isn’t verified, or has the wrong category set. Google won’t show a business it can’t confirm is real, and if it doesn’t know you’re a physio or chiropractor, it won’t show you for those searches. Until you sort the profile, the patients searching nearby simply won’t find you.
If you run a clinic in Belfast and patients say they “couldn’t find you on Google”, this is nearly always why. Here’s the plain-English version.
Why isn’t my clinic showing on Google Maps?
The usual reason is that your Google Business Profile is either not claimed, not verified, or set to the wrong category. Google won’t put an unverified business in the map results, and if your category says “health” or “clinic” rather than the specific profession, it won’t match you to “physio near me” searches.
Other common reasons NI clinics don’t show:
- The profile was never created, so there’s nothing to show.
- The primary category is wrong, it should be Physiotherapist, Chiropractor or Osteopath, not a generic label.
- There are too few recent reviews, so Google ranks better-maintained clinics nearby above you.
- There are two listings (a duplicate), splitting your reviews and confusing Google.
How do I get my clinic on Google Maps?
You claim the profile at google.com/business, verify it, set the right primary category, list your services, add photos, and start gathering genuine reviews. Google’s own guidance walks through verification.
The steps:
- Search your clinic name on Google. If a listing exists, click “Claim this business”. If not, create one.
- Set the right primary category, Physiotherapist, Chiropractor or Osteopath, and add secondary ones (sports massage therapist, etc.).
- Complete verification.
- List your services and the conditions you treat, add photos of your clinic, and set accurate hours.
- Start a steady, compliant review habit (an honest invite after each appointment, no incentives).
What is the map pack, and why does it decide your bookings?
The map pack is the box of three clinics with a little map at the top of Google when someone searches “physio near me” or “chiropractor Belfast”. It sits above the normal results and shows your phone number, reviews and distance, so most “found you on Google” bookings start there, and a patient in pain taps the first credible clinic in those three.
Being on the map isn’t the same as being in those three. Verifying gets you onto the map. To get into the top three you need the right category, recent reviews, photos and a complete profile.
The bit most clinics miss after verifying
Verifying gets you visible. It doesn’t get you to the top. The clinic with a steady trickle of recent, genuine reviews beats the one with a dozen from two years ago, and the best Belfast clinics are well past 100. Reviews, the right category, photos and a complete profile are what move you up.
